I had the incredible honor of getting to witness (and photograph) the USS Nimitz coming home to Everett. It was an experience that left me wanting to do more and more homecomings. I think that most of us can’t even fathom NINE WHOLE MONTHS away from the ones we love. That is a normal part of life for those in the military.
TRUE SACRIFICE.
When we first got there, we immediately saw the Nimitz making it’s way to port. It took more than an hour for it to turn around and actually dock.
As the Nimitz grew closer and closer, you could feel the excitement build. Then there was a moment when all the sailors aboard starting cheering while everyone waved their signs.
It was awesome!
Once the Nimitz was secure, they let us on to the pier. That is when you really got a feel for how immense she really is.
